5SOS Wembley Weekend

Hello Everyone,
It's been a week since 5SOS' Wembley shows came to an end, and after a week of post concert sadness and heartbreak over the UK tour finishing, I thought now would be the best time to write a post reflecting on what was one of the best weekends ever!
We (Me, Emmy and Amy) got to London for around 10 am and met with Emma before checking into our hostel, which we've renamed hosthell given the experiences we had (Emmy's wine bottle breaking in her suitcase, the air conditioning leaking, the lack of windows and air as well as a broken bed). After that we headed to try and meet 5SOS, and technically we did get 4/4. Then we headed for Wembley and missed Hey Violet's acoustic which made me very sad, but we did manage to join the meet and greet queue and get a cute AF Charlie's Casey's Angels photo.
We also had a pre show dinner at TGI's and then headed back to the venue, ready for night one of three. Things were a little different than they'd been in Birmingham, Hey Violet played a cover of Dancing With Myself in which a mum sitting near us danced her ass off, and 5SOS changed up the pre show playlist a little. We were on Michael's side and if you ever doubt the quality of restricted view  you need to re-evaluate your opinion. We had an insanely amazing view of the stage and all band members, as well as our friends who were in the standing pit as well as Mr Daryl Clifford. The set was incredible, especially when they decided to bring John Feldmann up on stage as they had in Birmingham and I cried a little more over Ashton getting up to perform pizza!

Luke decided to take a trip down memory lane and reflect on their Marble Arch performance in comparison to Wembley and I may have teared up a little each night he spoke about it. After the show we retired back to the hostHELL, where the bottom bunk broke at 5am, and McDonalds breakfast made us feel half alive. We trekked across London and checked into our Travelodge and had a cute reunion with Bekka and Mell outside 5SOS' hotel, before heading to Wembley and missing Hey Violet for the second day in a row (BOO!). Then, before the show I decided to treat myself to some merch, i.e the foam finger and me and Amy shared a bag of candyfloss which incase you didn't know, will turn your retainer pink. Me and Emmy bumped into Maisie Williams on our bar/toilet break and the show was looking to be one of the best we'd seen them. We were on Calum's (side eye) side and Ashton gave a little emo speech about feeling like a reject and having the best fans in the world. They also did a little impromptu song 'I don't want to leave' and stated the show would go on for another seven hours and I facetimed Vanessa for part of Long Way Home Everything looked promising, I was ready to foam finger the hell out of Good Girls but sadly, the show didn't make it that far.

During She Looks So Perfect I noticed Michael grab something and run off stage, after the song ended Emmy turned to us and asked us if we saw what had happened, and that's how we found out that Michael had set on fire! Having been to several shows we knew the 5SOS encore drill. They would leave after SLSP, let the crowd buzz and less than a minute later would return on stage, however seconds turned to minutes and as the crowd roared for more we knew something wasn't right. That's when the houselights went on and Ashton came on stage to announce Michael had hurt himself and the show wouldn't be continuing. Everyone was emotional and as a group we all met on the steps outside Wembley to have a little cry and prayer for Michael Clifford who luckily, wasn't too seriously hurt.
In the morning, we didn't know if the final show would go on. Wembley tweeted that they were still waiting for confirmation on the band's performance and we all debated the possibilities; would they play? would Michael be there? Fortunately the show did go on with Michael alongside them and we headed for Wembley, this time well in advance for Hey Violet. It's the day I snuck into two HV photos with my shorts on backwards and drank a bottle of wine before being blessed with standing wristbands. In our pod, which again was Calum's side, there was a buzz about the family members around us, with Calum's parents and sister Mali, Andy Hemmings and Daryl Clifford. We were absolutely thrilled when Bekka made it into our pod too, and our party began! We danced like mad for Hey Violet and I went so hard for 5SOS that my eyebrows may have melted off! There was also a camera man in the pod filming for their DVD and I pray that our circle pit for American Idiot makes the cut! The entire weekend was an unforgettable experience. I feel like I've seen 5SOS grow in terms of the venues they've played and to see them perform three dates at Wembley Arena was breathtaking. I cried a little on the second night as the crowd sang Beside You back to the band, as Wembley lit up with thousands of lights. I am so incredibly excited to see what is next for 5SOS, in terms of their live shows and their forthcoming second album. Also when the DVD is out I will be playing it all day everyday with a tub of Ben and Jerry's and a bottle of wine. Thank you to everyone who made the past few weekends the best they could be and thank you for reading, here are some of my favourite memories:
  • having the chance to see Hey Violet live and see what they're all about. Like many fans I was sceptical of them as a support act, but they're energy is incredible and they really try to get the crowd as pumped as possible for 5SOS!
  • The parties we had in the pods. From dancing next to John Feldmann and 5SOS' families to spilling drinks, having circle pits and sweating almost to death we truly made sure every moment was filled with fun!
  • Calum forgetting the words and looking really disappointed in himself
  • Dave singing along to Beside You
  • 5SOS throwing toilet roll during Hey Violet's set on the sunday
  • 5SOS CHANGING THE PLAYLIST ON SUNDAY TO SONGS ABOUT FIRE
  • The enormous feeling of happiness I felt when they'd sing Amnesia and the entire crowd was glowing
  • Shouting along to the pre show playlist in Birmingham and everyone looking at us like they wanted us to die
  • Sneaking Emma into standing
  • Joy Hood saying 'This is so amazing' to us
  • Seeing Pizza live twice and surviving
  • Learning the words to Permanent Vacation and doing Calum's Heys, Luke's claps and Michael's Na Na's!
  • 'Let me hear you say LONDONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN/HEYYYYY HOOOOOOOO'
  • Almost everything
If you'd like to check out what tour is like for us then please watch Emmy's Vlog!
