Here Comes Halloween: Costume Ideas 2016

Hello everyone,
I am back with yet another Halloween themed post, this time it comes in the form of costume ideas. Now, I am not the most creatively gifted, inventive person out there, so these ideas are all super easy to D.I.Y and some also come online as pre made costumes which is good if you don't have the time to make a costume. *disclaimer* I am just going to apologise in advance for number five!
Here are my top five Halloween costume ideas for this year:

  1. Elliot Alderson (Mr Robot character)

Yes that's right, if you know me then you will know how much I love this show and Elliot (and also Rami Malek). I'm starting with the easiest costume idea, because all you need are a black hoodie, a black top and black jeans, which i'm guessing are everyday essentials for most people. Optional items include a backpack, an fsociety mask which you can purchase online and also a very brooding look if you don't opt for a disguise!
  2. Ghostbuster (iconic Ghostbusters characters)

Thanks to this years female revolution in the Ghostbusters series, it would seem on trend as ever to be well prepared for all the ghostly happenings on Halloween by dressing as the ultimate slayer of ghosts! For a DIY I would get some beige overalls from a hardware store, a black backpack as a proton pack and some fabric paints for that iconic no ghosts allowed logo! But you can also buy male and female versions online from sites like this.
  3. Rey (Star Wars: The Force Awakens character)

Last Christmas, Star Wars returned with another epic adventure and Rey was truly one of the main faces of the film. For a DIY you could cut up an old bed sheet and tie a belt around it and put on your favourite boots. You can also find the costume online on so many sites such as this. If you wanted to do a group costume or couple you could definitely also dress as other characters, such as Han Solo, Finn, Leia or even Chewbacca if you're really feeling a full body costume!
  4. Eleven (Stranger Things character and queen)

Would I have made this list if I didn't want to be emo over Eleven? No, my friends I wouldn't. The best thing about Eleven is that she has a few looks you could choose from, such as her hospital like gown and her 'pretty?' transformation and iconic look. If you are feeling extra Eleven you could go and shave your hair off aswell. For the costume idea pictured, I would DIY an old dusty pink dress, throw on a puffy rain coat, some knee length sports socks, a blonde wig and white trainers or converse. You could also carry an Eggo box sign if you live in the UK or buy a box of eggos 4 Eleven. Unfortunately I don't think there are official costumes online because Stranger Things is so recent. *Bonus costume idea* couples go as Eleven and Mike or you and your pals go as the Stranger Things pals.
  5. Harley Quinn (DC Character)

Now, I am so bittersweet listing Harley because I feel like literally every Halloween for the past five years, I've wanted to be her but haven't, because not many people would recognise it and NOW SHE IS GONNA BE ON EVERY STREET THIS HALLOWEEN! But saltiness aside, she is so fun and easy to dress as, given her makeup. All you need is blue and red eyeshadow, red lipstick and black liner. Pre made costumes are available online with a range of Harley's to be e.g Suicide Squad, Arkham City and Asylum. If you want to dress her as a couple then you can find Poison Ivy costumes online too, but if you want to be Harley and Joker then please, just don't.
So, I hope this post gave you some last minute inspiration if you're planning to dress up this Halloween! Let me know if you already have a costume planned, I would love to see all DIY wonders.
Stay Spooky,
love, Aimee :) x
