First Impressions: Pink Parcel

Aimee Was Watching: Scream Queens

Hello everyone,
So I just finished watching the two hour episode of Scream Queens which aired last night in the U.S and I immediately had to express my reaction somewhere, so here I am, ready to blurt out why this TV show is one you should ALL be watching.

First of all let's talk about the cast.Lea Michele, who has worked closely with the shows writer Ryan Murphy on Glee, finds herself as the geeky girl with a neck brace successfully obtaining a place within the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority, after the dean, played by horror screen legend Jamie Lee Curtis, makes an 'all pledges will be accepted' rule. The sorority is ran by Chanel, played by Emma Roberts who also has a history working with Ryan Murphy on his fellow horror filled series American Horror Story, and her minions the originally named Chanel number 2, 3 and 5 (four died before the story takes place) with the minions of the society featuring Abigail Breslin (no You Suck digs here) and Ariana Grande who *spoiler* doesn't last all that long. Rounding up the cast of famous faces is Nick Jonas, who plays Boone, a preppy homosexual character, who at the end of the episodes seemingly has a sinister side *spoiler number two!*
From the cast and characters I have to move on to the storyline. It is witty in parts and even at the most disturbing times seems to have a comical side. Victims seemingly resurrect to tweet their murder *spoiler trois* and dancing to TLC is shown as being more important than helping your friend post giving birth in a bathtub! The aesthetic of the story is well crafted and satirical with digs towards the white girl at Starbucks trend and sorority sisters being far from sisterly. It mocks an age of teens who cling to their smartphones for socialisation whilst also appealing to them as a target audience (okay yes I am twenty, but twenteen ya know?).
This is a show definitely made for fans of Murphy and co creator Brad Falchuk's first born nightmare, American Horror Story, but with less detailed gore and psychological plots. Given it is less extreme compared to AHS it would seem there's a wider market for this series to appeal to, people who want to see American Horror Story: Comic Edition. I cannot wait to see the way this series develops and even being just two hours in I have my ideas as to who the dancing devil killer may be, how about you? If you don't want to dance with the torrent devil then you can wait until Autumn when Scream Queens will air on E4 in the UK.
Thanks for reading,
Aimee :) x
