It's been a little while since my last makeup review, but that is not indicative of the amount of beauty items I have been buying. My bank account honestly hates me right now!
A few weeks back, I was watching one of my current favourite YouTubers (thisgirlcalledholly) rave about the MUA Silent Disco Palette. And of course, as the sucker for anything the internet tells me to buy, I did exactly that and purchased the palette.
I had been browsing for a multi coloured palette for some time. The most popular one on the market is probably the NYX Brights palette, but, as someone who wears very few bold eye shadows, I wanted to test a palette that would be as inexpensive as possible. At just £4, this palette was the perfect option, with the added bonus being that MUA are also a cruelty free brand.
The palette arrived speedily at my local Superdrug, and I decided to test every shade in order to get into the spirit of Pride, by creating a very messy, amateur Aimee, rainbow eyes look.
As you can tell from the swatches, all of the colours were relatively rich with regards to pigmentation. Whilst Techno, the yellow shade, was somewhat chalk like in consistency, it was still buildable and easy to work with. I believe that yellow is generally less easy to work with from other brands, so I am not disappointed by this. There is also a nice balance between matte and shimmery shades, which makes me happy to have duplicates for some of the colours. For example, Go Ape, the first of the orange shades, has a slight shimmer to it, whilst Just Dance, the second orange shade is more matte.
What I think is great about this palette is the variety of looks that you could create with it. From sunset eyes, to gradients and also (inevitably a better version than mine) rainbow. When you think about the cost of the palette and what you can get out of it, the price is great value for money. My only complaints (if you could call them that) are that the brush is one of those double ended sponge styles that does absolutely nothing, and I find MUA packaging very difficult to open.
On the whole, if you are wanting to experiment with colour without breaking the bank, or you want to create a variety of looks, the Silent Disco Palette is a must buy item.
Thanks for reading.
See you next time!
Love, Aimee :) x
