First Impressions: Pink Parcel

July 2017 Favourites

Hello and welcome back.

July was a month filled with weather that seemed to be just as indecisive as myself. However, it appears that whilst the rain continues to pour from a sunny sky, I have actually managed to get myself together and pick some of the things I've been loving for the past month! So let's get into it shall we?

Now, I am super massive Disney fan, and for a while now I have wanted to purchase some Maple and Whisky candles. The Etsy store sells a variety of scents inspired by Disney, such as the famous Dolewhips and bakeries from the parks. When my friend Natalie told me just how great hers were, I had to dig into my pockets, find some money, and test them for myself. I opted to get two versions of the six tealights packs; Pumpkin Spice Latte (cause I'm basic and the hallowqueen) and Lotso's Hugs (because I love all things Toy Story). The turnaround time is around three weeks but the wait is worth it. Whilst the tealights are understandably small, the scent is very powerful and leaves my entire room smelling as sweet as could be. Lotso's Hugs smells like they have blended Strawberry Hubba Bubba with strawberry ice cream, whilst Pumpkin Spice Latte smells like all of my autumn dreams came true! I would definitely recommend these for yourself or as a gift for all Disney lovers.

There seems to be a theme here, but you may know that Primark have been pretty much milking their Disney collections! Well, with all the mugs and bedding and shirts, there is also this super cute little Chip purse which my friend managed to grab for me (and I managed to grab one for another pal too). I have decided that as he is an awkward shape for carrying in a handbag, that I am going to use him to store my memory cards in. For £4, you have to pop into Primark and treat yourself to a little bit of Chip!

Around a year ago, I saw a trailer for a film called American Pastoral and as it was advertised as being a book, decided I wanted to read it before seeing it. As I now have a longer commute to work I have decided to use that time to get into one of my favourite past times. In short, American Pastoral is about Swede Levov, an all loved, all American college sports star, whose daughter, Merry, sets off a bomb in the wake of the Vietnam war. As someone who usually reads YA, this was difficult to get into at first, but I found myself wanting to know far more after the book ended. You can find American Pastoral at book stores such as Waterstones, and online.

Spiderman is my favourite superhero, so I am a little biased with this next favourite. Spiderman Homecoming: the first spidey feature length for Tom Holland, was superb! I think they completely got the casting right with Tom, and really introduced him well after his cameo in Civil War. The plot twist had me SHOOK and many of the scenes, such as the one in DC, had me on the edge of my seat. I cannot wait to see more of Tom's take on this Marvel character.

Technically this one came out in June but a) I don't have a post for that month and b) I have a confession- it took a while for this to come a fave for me! Now, I love Halsey. More than I love myself. But I think because Badlands was so important to me and just so well written and thought out, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom annoyed me. This is mainly because I HATE ROMEO AND JULIET. I will have to dedicate an entire post just to that but I really felt like it was kind of a sell out (don't hate me). I say this because I know how well Halsey can write, and sing and capture a story. It took me a while to sit down and appreciate this album because I couldn't depart from my hatred of R+J and how different the vibe is to Badlands. I can confirm however, that I have done nothing this month apart from cry over Sorry, fake perform Bad at Love, bop to 100 Letters and honestly pretend I am part of the cast for the Now or Never video. I never hated the album, it just took a while for me to fave it, but I am so glad I have!

That's it for this post. Let me know what your favourite things are at the moment.

See you in my next post.
Love,
Aimee :) x
